Let's start at the beginning... Ghost #001

I am not going to begin this series with the first ghost that you see at the Haunted Mansion, but rather which one I think has the record for being the oldest. Who was the mummy and what was his story?

  1. A few years back, Slave Labor Comics did a Haunted Mansion series, but the writers paid scant attention to WED's existing backstory, creating ones of their own.

(OT)"Master" in someone's name denotes that that person is under the age of 18, so Master Gracey, with apologies to the WDW Castmembers who started the backstory, was not, in fact, the owner. It was a Captain Bloodmere. (Not Captain Blood) Disney picked up on this error for the Eddie Murphy film. Let's hope GDT fixes it.

The Pirates' secret entrance is bricked up, but overlooks the Rivers of America in New Orleans Square. In Florida, the river pirates' den is located on Tom Sawyer Island.

The comic book tells the Mummy's story this way: "The mummy recounts to his hard-of-hearing friends how he came to be here. He tried to steal an artifact from the temple of Anubis, and was given the curse of 1000 curses, ranging from the seven year itchy scratchies, the curse of the stinky cheese feet, and the curse of the amorous camels. The only way to remove these curses was to pass them on to other people. He did so, and feels he may have been responsible for the problems of the Gracey family. His deaf friend's only reply is 'What, a sale on purses at Macy's?'" (source of quote: Wikipedia)
